If you are planning to visit Sylhet, then Ratargul will be one of the best place to visit in you bucket list. This place is known as Ratargul Swamp Forest and not so far from Sylhet City. I have included the pictures I have captured there and I hope this will help you to guess the beauty of the place.
Another thing for reminder, the people of that are, especially the boatmen can sing pretty well. If you ask them to sing, they will surely and sometime you don’t need to ask. They start singing by themselves because this is the nature of the people who lives in the HAOR area.
May be you are thinking, ‘okay, that’s enough. Tell me how to go there” Here you go. If you want to go from Dhaka you have to come to Sylhet first, definitely (ha ha). Ratargul is not that ,much far like the other tourist spots of Sylhet. You will not get any bus to travel cheap though for the other spots, buses are available.
So, you have to take a reserve CNG from Sylhet to go to Ratargull. You can plan to visit Ratargul and Volagonj/Bichanakandi together for saving time. For full day CNG will cost 1200 to 1500 taka. It depends on season. In Ratargul, there are three Ghat from where you can start your journey. Boat fare was 600 Tk (fixed), it could’ve changed but the fare was foxed by the local govt. administration.
